A holistic approach to plasma-assisted catalysis has been employed for the aim to gain a fundamental, molecular-level understanding of environmentally relevant plasma systems through a suite of spectroscopy and materials characterization techniques. Specifically, the distribution of vibrational and rotational energy of excited and ground state species, as well as plasma kinetics, in the presence of micro- and nano-structured catalysts has been elucidated.
